Our Mission

Rise Initiative is dedicated to transforming lives through mentorship by developing Black and Brown boys in inner city Chicago communities into men who demonstrate strong manners, moral character, and integrity. The program emphasizes self-discipline, emotional intelligence, accountability, and healthy decision-making, recognizing mentorship as a powerful tool for reshaping identity and creating sustainable pathways toward positive futures.

In addition to mentorship, Rise Initiative supports educational and career pathways tailored to each individual’s strengths and goals. Participants are guided toward trade programs, two- and four-year colleges, certifications, and workforce development opportunities. By providing structured guidance and access to resources, the organization empowers young men to pursue educational and professional paths with confidence and purpose.

Rise Initiative is also committed to reducing community violence by offering structure, belonging, and positive peer networks. Through consistent mentorship and leadership development, the program seeks to interrupt cycles of gang involvement, strengthen community connections, and foster environments that encourage personal growth and accountability. Mentorship serves as the intervention, while leadership is the intended outcome.

Ultimately, Rise Initiative strives to build strong men, strengthen families, and uplift Black and Brown communities. Long-term success is measured by participants becoming reliable employees or entrepreneurs, responsible fathers and partners, and engaged community leaders. Through this work, Rise Initiative is not only shaping individuals but contributing to a stronger, more resilient future for the City of Chicago.
